Solar Project Engineer

Job description

  • Undertake energy production assessments which include site visits, solar data processing and quality checking, correlation analysis, review of energy losses, statistical analysis and reporting;
  • Undertake site conditions assessments which include elements of the above;
  • Produce detailed reports which review the feasibility of sites for development which will include feasibility studies, layout optimization, shadow assessment, and visual impact assessment;
  • Analyze interconnection due diligence materials to support project acquisition efforts;
  • Liaise/Interface with a wide range of stakeholders from solar developers / Governmental bodies to financial institutions;
  • Lead and assist internal groups to complete deliverables required by outside agencies to construct interconnection facilities;
  • Manage multiple projects to ensure they are completed within timescale and budget;
  • Produce written reports and other documentation for delivery to the Development team;
  • Participate in R&D projects and supporting continuous improvement of procedures;

Qualifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering, Physics, Atmospheric Science or Mathematics field;
  • Minimum of (1) year professional experience in a similar role in solar PV energy, renewable project development and transmission planning, preferably with international solar PV project developers and/or solar EPC service providers;
  • Knowledge in solar PV energy industry software (i.e. PVSyst, PVPlanner, Solar PV Autocad), tools for statistical analysis of data (Access, SQL) and measurement techniques would be a plus;
  • Good organizational and effective time management skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment - operating to very tight timescales;
  • Strong attention to detail in order to produce accurate and high-quality reports for MGEN needs;
  • Adaptability and ability to cope with a wide variety of tasks;
  • Fluency in English; Chinese language would be a plus; 
  • Ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English; 
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Good IT skills, and experience using MS Office suite packages

Solar Engineering Manager (For pooling)

Job description

  • Evaluate project feasibility including site visits and due diligence; 
  • Develop electrical/structural designs for large scale solar projects; 
  • Review and validate technical documents, including electrical single-line, wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical, structural, site plan drawings, and O&M manuals; 
  • Identify, evaluate and direct subcontractor and consultant project services and deliverables; 
  • Establish procedures for development of site permitting and interconnection requirements; 
  • Prepare reports and communicate design/project activity; 
  • Identify, prioritize and schedule project/design initiatives;
  • Coordinate bill of materials development and supplier recommendations; 
  • Perform site audits; 
  • Write and/or provide support on reports, articles, issue briefs, and memorandums on technical issues and best practices for both internal and external use; 

Qualifications:

  • Completed an Electrical Engineering degree; 
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the solar industry, including engineering and design of utility scale solar parks, dealing with utilities, and permitting/interconnection procedures; 
  • Successful track record in project execution; 
  • Familiarity with the performance of a variety of PV solar technologies and the O&M of the equipment found in power systems; 
  • Self-motivated and self-sufficient with exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills;
